Serial Rapist’s Reign of Terror

Just three months ago, students at Rutgers and other locals breathed a huge sigh of relief after the arrest of a man suspected of being New Brunswick’s serial rapist.
Ricardo Cepates, 32, of New Brunswick, terrorized the city for more than two years, committing seven rapes, police said. DNA evidence has linked the illegal immigrant to the rapes of five women — including two Rutgers co-eds — and a 14-year-old girl, police said.
Cepates’ reign of terror began Sept. 20, 2001, when he raped a 21-year-old Rutgers student after beating and dragging her into a wooded area, cops said.
He was arrested Dec. 6 after he tried to rape an employee in the bathroom of a store.
