Pretoria — Police were called in to disperse a small group of protesters outside the IEC results centre in Pretoria West on Wednesday.
Piet “Skiet” Rudolph and five others were told by police to disband.
Police spokesperson Director Faizel Kader said the protesters, who were carrying posters calling for the establishment of a “Boer Nation” dispersed without incident when police asked them to do so.
Rudolph, who has regularly clashed with the law on issues surrounding the “Boer Nation” allegedly intended to display posters again declaring “Vryheid vir the Boerevolk” (Freedom for the Boerevolk).
He appeared in court twice last year on charges of holding illegal gatherings, but both times charges were withdrawn.
IEC deputy Chief Electoral Officer Mosotho Moepya said he had not been aware of any protest, and that if there had indeed been one it must have been very small.
